Companhia do Vale do Araguaia

Companhia do Vale do Araguaia is an established forestry company that develops, plants and harvests teak (Tectona grandis) plantations in the mid-west region of Brazil, with an aim to produce 100 thousand m³ of sawn wood per year. The Company is in the process of developing fully-integrated forestry operations, from seed production to teak planting and lumber operations, with high environmental standards in order to sell lumber on the domestic as well as foreign markets.

The Company owns approximately 14,500 hectares of land for planting teak. While developing and maintaining its plantations, the Company carries out land lease activities in areas where no teak plantation exist. The Management also intends to negotiate Emission Reduction Certificates (ERCs) resulting from its forestry activity. The Company´s projects are based on the concept of environmental sustainability and aimed at certified lumber production.
